Additionally, the study aimed to explore whether more intensive fertilization in the spill system could increase yields of both onions and red chili.

Results

The results showed that the onion spill system with red chili 42 days after planting onion produced the highest wet harvest weight of onion tubers (74.29 g tan-1). Meanwhile, the highest red chili harvest weight was obtained in the spill system with the same planting.

These findings indicate that planting red chili 42 days after planting shallots has the potential to increase land efficiency with optimal shallot harvest. This is because shallots have been strong enough and have passed the critical phase of growth, so planting red chili does not inhibit the growth and yield of shallots.
