Introduction

Motorized vehicle tax arrears (PKB) have become a significant issue in Medan City, affecting not only the local government's revenue but also the community's social and economic behavior. This study aims to explore the determinants of PKB arrears in Medan City, focusing on the effects of age, level of education, monthly income, and taxpayer awareness. By understanding these factors, local governments can develop effective strategies to reduce PKB arrears and promote a culture of tax compliance.

Methodology

This study employed a case study approach with an associative method, collecting data from 100 respondents who function as PKB taxpayers in Medan City. The analytical method used included scoring with Likert and multiple linear regression, allowing researchers to assess the relationship between variables more clearly.

Results

The results of this study showed that, partially, the variables level of education, income, and awareness of paying taxes had a significant effect on vehicle tax arrears. Among these three factors, the variable awareness of paying taxes was the most dominant factor in reducing PKB arrears. The higher the taxpayer's awareness to meet their tax obligations, the less likely they are to experience arrears.
