This research explores more deeply about the use of medicinal plants to treat digestive and blood circulation in the community of Karo Gugung, Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

Methodology: Unveiling the secrets of ethnobotany in the Karo Gugung community

This study uses an open and in-depth interview method with the physicians or batra as key informants. In addition, the questionnaire was given to patients and the community to understand their social, economic, and knowledge conditions about medicinal plants. The results show that digestive diseases such as stomach acid, colds, abdominal pain, and ulcers are the most common complaints experienced by the Karo Gugung community. The prevalence of these diseases highlights the need for effective treatment options.
