Methodology

This study uses regression analysis using the OLS (Ordinary Least Square) method through the EViews 4.1 program. The aim is to analyze the effect of government spending and consumption expenditure on economic growth in the City of Pematang Siantar. This study uses time series data from 1984 to 2006. The use of regression analysis allows us to examine the relationship between government spending, consumption expenditure, and economic growth.

Results

The results showed that government spending had a positive and significant impact on economic growth in the City of Pematang Siantar. Likewise with consumption expenditure, which also has a positive and significant impact on economic growth in the region. The findings of this study suggest that government spending and consumption expenditure are important drivers of economic growth in Pematang Siantar.

Based on this result, the hypothesis which states that government expenditure and consumption expenditure have a positive impact on economic growth can be accepted. The acceptance of this hypothesis suggests that government spending and consumption expenditure are important factors in promoting economic growth in Pematang Siantar.
