This research is crucial in ensuring that the water supplied meets the standards set for drinking water, thereby protecting public health from the potential hazards of heavy metal contamination.

The measured calcium levels in PDAM Tirtanadi water also meet the specified requirements, which indicate that the water supplied contains minerals that are important for health.

Tirtanadi PDAM water is a source of drinking water for the community in Sunggal. However, the quality of this water is often compromised due to various factors, including contamination from heavy metals. In this study, we aim to examine the content of aluminum (Al) and calcium (Ca) in Tirtanadi PDAM water using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. This method is an effective analysis technique for measuring the concentration of metal elements in the sample. The advantage of this method is the high level of accuracy and sensitivity, so that it allows the detection of the concentration of elements in very small amounts.

Methodology

The study was conducted in two locations, namely flocculation water and reservoir water. Sampling was carried out every month for three months to ensure water quality that is suitable for consumption. The atomic absorption spectrophotometry method was used to analyze the samples. This method works based on the principle that each element can absorb light at a certain wavelength. The results of the analysis were then compared with the standards set for drinking water.

Results

The analysis results showed aluminum levels in flocculation water reached 0.3338 ± 0.0089 mg/L, while in the reservoir air, 0.1860 ± 0.0099 mg/L was recorded. For calcium content, flocculation water shows the results of 1,9467 ± 0.0000 mg/L, and reservoir water has a level of 1,5479 ± 0.0000 mg/L. All measurement results meet drinking water quality standards set by Permenkes RI No. 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010.

The results of this study show that the aluminum levels in both locations are still within safe limits. This is a positive finding, as excessive aluminum consumption can lead to various health problems. On the other hand, the measured calcium levels in PDAM Tirtanadi water also meet the specified requirements, which indicate that the water supplied contains minerals that are important for health.

Examination of aluminum and calcium content in Tirtanadi PDAM water using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry method shows that the water quality produced meets the standards set for drinking water.
