Introduction

In today's competitive retail industry, supermarkets are constantly seeking ways to attract and retain customers. Two crucial factors that can significantly influence consumer purchasing decisions are product completeness and prices. A supermarket that offers a diverse range of products and competitive prices is more likely to attract customers and increase sales. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of product completeness and prices on purchasing decisions at Pondok Indah Supermarkets, Setia Budi, Medan.

Product completeness is a crucial factor that can attract the attention of consumers. The more diverse and complete the products offered, the greater the opportunity to meet the needs and desires of consumers. Methodology

This study involved a population of 96 respondents who were consumers who shop at Pondok Indah Pasar Buah Pasar. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, which focuses on consumers who have made purchases in the past one month. Data collection was carried out through the dissemination of questionnaires to obtain relevant information regarding the effect of product completeness and price on purchasing decisions.

Data Analysis

The analysis method applied in this study was associative quantitative analysis, including validity testing, reliability test, classical assumption test, and multiple linear regression analysis. The data obtained was then analyzed using SPSS 20 to get accurate results.

Results

The results showed that the completeness of the product has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions. This means that the more complete the products available in supermarkets, the more likely consumers to make purchases. In addition, product prices also show positive and significant effects on purchasing decisions. This confirms that competitive and affordable prices can attract consumers to shop at the supermarket.

The Coefficient of Determination (R²)

Through the analysis of the coefficient of determination (R²), the results were obtained by 0.363, which indicated that 36.3% of the purchasing decision could be explained by the product completeness variable and price. Meanwhile, the remaining 63.7% is influenced by other factors that are not examined in this study. This shows the potential of other variables that need to be further investigated to get a deeper understanding of consumer behavior in the supermarket.

Conclusion

From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the completeness of the product and price are two important factors that influence the purchasing decisions of consumers at the Pondok Indah Supermarket in Buah Pasar. Therefore, supermarkets are advised to continue to increase product completeness and offer competitive prices, in order to attract more consumers and increase sales. This study provides valuable insight for business owners in understanding consumer behavior and appropriate strategies in dealing with competition in the retail industry.
