Introduction

The growth and development of plants in tissue culture are influenced by various factors, including the type of lighting source used. Lighting sources play a crucial role in providing the necessary light spectrum for photosynthesis, which is essential for plant growth and development. In this study, we aim to explore the effect of lighting sources on the growth of micro buds of the Barangan red banana plant (Musa Acuminata Linn.) using a temporary immersion system (Temporary Immersion System). The study was conducted in the tissue culture laboratory of PT. Hijau Surya Biotechindo, located in Kisaran, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province, during the period May to July.

Research Methodology

The parameters observed in this study include the percentage of shoots formation, number of shoots, bud length, number of leaves, the percentage of roots formed, the number of roots, root length, leaf color, and the incidence of necrosis and vitrification. This observation aims to get a deeper understanding of how the difference in lighting sources can affect the growth of micro banana shoots. The method used in this study is a complete random design (RAL) with two factors, namely the light source in the form of LED lamps and fluorescent lamps, each with one replication.
