One of the main problems that often arises is the incompatibility between production planning and production implementation. This is caused by various forms of waste that occur during the production process, such as waiting time between one process and another, excess inventory, especially in goods in the process (Work in Progress/WIP), as well as the resulting defect products.

Lean Supply Chain is a management philosophy that aims to minimize waste and maximize value-added activities in the supply chain. It is a systematic approach to identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities, reducing lead times, and improving overall efficiency. In the context of PT. Bobo, the application of Lean Supply Chain is crucial in reducing waste and improving efficiency in the production process.

Methodology

The general objective of this study is to apply the Lean Supply Chain to identify and reduce waste in the supply chain of PT. Bobo. The method used to identify waste in the supply chain is Lean Supply Chain and Value Stream Mapping. After the identification stage, the next step is to detail the supply chain activity using the Process Activity Mapping, then conducts an analysis of existing waste and provide suggestions for improvement using the 5W1H method.

Value Stream Mapping and Process Activity Mapping

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a visual representation of the production process that helps to identify waste and areas for improvement. Process Activity Mapping (PAM) is a detailed mapping of the supply chain activities that helps to identify the root causes of waste and inefficiencies. By using VSM and PAM, PT. Bobo can visually understand the flow of production and identify the points that experience waste.

Results and Analysis

From the mapping activities of the process activities carried out, six operational activities were found, 23 transportation activities, 12 inspection activities, 9 storage activities, and two delays. The results of the grouping between activities that are added value and not added value show that there are eight activities that are classified as added value and 44 activities included in the category of non-value added. The ratio of added value activity reaches 15.38%, while the activity is not added to 84.62%.

Improvement Suggestions

From the proposed improvement suggestions, there was an increase in the percentage of added value from 15.38% to 16.67% and a decrease in the percentage of non-value activity from 84.62% to 83.33%. This indicates that PT. Bobo has started to focus on activities that directly provide benefits for customers, while reducing non-value activities show efforts to simplify the process.

The application of Lean Supply Chain at PT. Bobo is very relevant in the context of a very competitive food industry. With a focus on reducing waste, companies can not only improve operational efficiency but also improve product quality and satisfy customers. One of the keys to Lean's success is the involvement of all team members in identifying problems and creating solutions.
