Introduction

The Food Estate program is a government initiative aimed at improving agricultural productivity and increasing farmers' income in rural areas. However, the success of this program depends on various factors, including farmers' decisions in marketing their agricultural products. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers' decisions in marketing their products in Ria-Ria Village, Pollung District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra Province. The study uses a purposive approach, collecting data from 36 samples using the proportional clustered sampling method. The data collected consists of secondary and primary data, and analyzed using the crossstab method (cross table) with the chi-square test.

Research Methodology

The study uses a quantitative approach, collecting data from 36 farmers in Ria-Ria Village. The data collection method includes both secondary and primary data. Secondary data was collected from various sources, including government reports, academic journals, and online databases. Primary data was collected through a survey questionnaire, which was administered to the farmers. The questionnaire consisted of questions related to farmers' demographics, farming experience, income, and marketing decisions.

By paying attention to aspects of age, experience, income, and selling price of garlic, related parties can formulate a more effective strategy in supporting farmers. The application of policies that pay attention to the characteristics and needs of farmers will contribute to the success of the Food Estate program and improve the welfare of farmers in the area.
