Study of Lindi Water Quality on Groundwater Quality Using the Pollution Index (IP) and Storet Methods at TPA Stipan Raga, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province

Introduction

Lindi water is a liquid produced from the decomposition of organic waste in the Final Disposal Site (TPA). In the TPA Tiati Raga, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province, inadequate leachate water management can result in pollution of land and groundwater in the vicinity. This study aims to evaluate the quality of leachate water and groundwater quality around the TPA using the Pollution Index (IP) and Storet methods, in accordance with the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 115 of 2003. The evaluation results show that the status of groundwater quality around the landfill meets quality standards and is not contaminated by leachate water. In addition, no significant differences were found between groundwater quality in monitoring wells and bore wells used by local residents.
