The raw materials used in this study are kaolin, quartz, feldspar, and clay, which are commonly used in the production of traditional ceramics. The samples are printed using a hydraulic press, with a comparison of the mixture of kaolin, quartz, feldspar, and clay, which is 20:30:30:20. After printing, the sample is left for 2 x 24 hours for the drying process before combustion in the furnace at 1000 °C for 5 hours. This process is essential in determining the final properties of the ceramic product, as the firing temperature and duration can affect the ceramic's physical, mechanical, and thermal properties.

After the combustion process, characterization is carried out to determine the physical properties (dry shrinkage and burning shrinkage), mechanical properties (hardness and compressive strength), as well as thermal and microstructure.

The results of characterization show that the highest dry and burning shrinkage values are found in the size of the raw material 300 mesh. The maximum hardness value is obtained at the same grain size, namely with a hardness value of 2,223,107 MPa. In addition, the optimum compressive strength value is also recorded on the grain size of 300 mesh with a value of 45.777 MPa. This finding shows that the grain size has a significant influence on the mechanical properties of the ceramic produced.

Through the Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) testing, no change in shape in the sample until the heating temperature reaches 950 °C. This indicates that the ceramic produced has good thermal stability, which is very necessary for applications in high-temperature conditions.

Microstructure characterization reveals the presence of pores in ceramics formed with diameters ranging from 1,027 μm to 7.862 μm. These pores play an important role in determining the mechanical and thermal properties of ceramics. The content of the elements of the ceramic produced shows a variety of compositions, with a percentage of carbon of 3.20%, oxygen 50.86%, sodium 1.58%, aluminum 12.07%, silicon 29.43%, potassium 1.36%, and Iron 1.50%.

This study made a significant contribution in the development of traditional ceramic materials. It is expected that ceramic products from Kaolin, Quartz, Feldspar, and Clay can be used in various industrial applications, especially those that require materials with good mechanical and thermal properties.
