This study employed an analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, conducted from March to June 2019 in the Ceramic X industry located in Mabar, Medan City. The research subjects consisted of workers who were distinguished based on their work location. To obtain accurate data, dust content was measured using a personal dust sampler tool. Statistical analysis was carried out using the Chi Square test and t-test through SPSS software to determine the relationship between dust content and lung function.

As many as 35 male workers were involved in this study, divided into three different work locations: 11 workers (31.4%) in the Prakompression, 13 workers (37.1%) in the compression section, and 11 workers (31.4%) in the syinper section. The measured dust levels showed significant variations, with 24.8 mg/m³ in pre-compression, 29.2 mg/m³ in compression, and 6.11 mg/m³ in syinper. The results of lung function examination revealed that 21 people (60%) had restriction abnormalities, but no significant relationship was found between dust content and lung function (P> 0.05).

Although the results showed the absence of a significant relationship between dust levels in the workplace and lung function, this phenomenon is still noteworthy.
