Methodology

This study employed a descriptive design with a total sampling method, involving 30 elderly individuals from Hamlet 1, Denai Sarang Burung Village, Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that included demographic information and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The PSQI is a widely used instrument for assessing sleep quality, which evaluates various aspects of sleep, including sleep duration, sleep disorders, and sleep environment.

Results

The results of this study revealed that the majority of the elderly participants (70%) experienced poor sleep quality. The analysis also showed that the 60-74 year age group dominated (63.3%), with the majority of female (73.3%) and widow marriage status (66.7%). These findings suggest that age, gender, and marital status may be significant factors influencing sleep quality in the elderly.
