In this study, we analyzed the quality of CPKO obtained from the results of palm kernel extraction with N-HEXAN solvents at PT Palmcoco Laboratories.

Background

Palm kernel oil is a crude oil extracted from palm kernel, which contains various components such as fat, protein, fiber, and water. The quality of CPKO is influenced by the concentration of free fatty acids, levels of impurities, humidity, and iodine values. Methodology

The analysis of CPKO quality was conducted at PT Palmcoco Laboratories from 19 to 29 January 2009. The oil content in the sample tested was recorded at 41.86%, 42.10%, and 42.07%. Meanwhile, the concentration of free fatty acids (FFA) for the sample is 4.50%, 4.54%, and 4.50%. The iodine values obtained are 17.62%, 17.34%, and 17.78%, while the humidity content is at 0.31%, 0.42%, and 0.38%. Finally, the detected dirt content is 0.005%, 0.003%, and 0.004%.
