Introduction

Increasing foreign investment in Indonesia is one of the key factors that can encourage economic growth. The country's strategic location, large market, and abundant natural resources make it an attractive destination for foreign investors. However, the Indonesian government needs to create a favorable business environment to attract more foreign investment. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the increase in direct foreign investment (FDI) in Indonesia during the period 1986 to 2007.

Background

Methodology

This study uses the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method to analyze the factors that influence FDI in Indonesia. The data used in this study is time series data from 1986 to 2007. The variables used in this study are investment credit interest rates, London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR), and Indonesian foreign exchange reserves.

Results

The estimation results show that the R-Squared value is 82%, which means that 82% of variations in increasing FDI in Indonesia can be explained by the independent variables used in the model. The remaining 18% is explained by variables that are not included in the estimated model. Statistics F showed significant results with a value of 28,349 which is greater than the value of table F (5.09) at the level of significance α = 1%. This shows that interest rates for investment credit, libor, and foreign exchange reserves together have a significant influence on the increase in FDI in Indonesia.

Conclusion

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the increase in direct foreign investment (FDI) in Indonesia during the period 1986 to 2007.
