Globalization has become a phenomenon that affects many aspects of life in Indonesia, especially in the field of education. One of the real impacts of globalization is the emergence of intercultural meetings, which can be seen from the many foreign students who choose to continue their studies in Indonesia. The increasing number of international students in Indonesia has created a diverse and multicultural environment in educational institutions. One of the cities that is an educational destination for foreign students is Medan, where the University of North Sumatra (USU) is one of the selected institutions. This intercultural interaction requires foreign students to adapt to their new environment, which can be challenging due to cultural, linguistic, and social differences.

The Importance of Intercultural Sensitivity

In order to interact properly, foreign students need to have intercultural sensitivity or intercultural sensitivity. Intercultural sensitivity refers to the ability of individuals to understand and appreciate cultural differences. In the context of foreign students at the University of North Sumatra, this sensitivity is very important to build harmonious social relations with the surrounding community. The results showed that intercultural sensitivity in foreign students in the University of North Sumatra was classified in medium to high categories. This means that foreign students in USU have a good level of intercultural sensitivity, which enables them to interact well in a multicultural environment.
