The Relationship Between Knowledge and Attitudes in the Application of Health Protocols in Mauku Kopi Medan Johor in 2021

Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in various aspects of life, including the way we interact in public places such as coffee shops. In Mauku Kopi Medan Johor, the application of health protocols is crucial to maintain the safety and health of visitors. Health protocols, which include the use of masks, maintaining physical distance, washing hands, and avoiding touching the face, are designed to minimize the risk of viral transmission. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and characteristics of visitors in the application of health protocols in that place during the period May to July 2021.

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the world, resulting in widespread illness, death, and economic disruption. In response to the pandemic, governments and health organizations have implemented various measures to slow the spread of the virus, including the implementation of health protocols in public places such as coffee shops. In Mauku Kopi Medan Johor, the application of health protocols is essential to maintain the safety and health of visitors. However, the effectiveness of these protocols depends on the knowledge and attitudes of visitors.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative approach with an analytic survey method to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and characteristics of visitors in the application of health protocols in Mauku Kopi Medan Johor. A total of 1,525 visitors were involved in the study, with an average of 508 visitors per month. The samples taken amounted to 42 respondents using the Slovin method and random sampling techniques. Data analysis was carried out through univariate and bivariate analysis, and the Chi Square test was used to produce frequency distribution tables.

Results

The results of this study showed a significant relationship between sex, knowledge, and attitudes of visitors with the application of health protocols. Meanwhile, no significant relationship was found between age, education, and work with the application of health protocols. These findings indicate that good knowledge and attitude can encourage individuals to be more disciplined in following the applicable health protocol.

Discussion

The results of this study have several implications for the application of health protocols in Mauku Kopi Medan Johor. Firstly, the study highlights the importance of awareness of the health protocol among visitors. Education about the steps to prevent COVID-19 transmission needs to be increased so that all parties can contribute to reducing the number of cases. For example, coffee shop owners should provide clear and easy-to-understand information about the health protocol, as well as remind visitors to always comply with existing rules.

From a policy point of view, the results of this study can be a reference for local governments and the authorities to formulate a more effective strategy in increasing public awareness of the health protocol. With coordinated efforts, it is expected that the transmission of COVID-19 can be minimized and the community can continue to carry out daily activities safely.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the relationship between knowledge and attitude and the application of health protocols is very crucial in the context of this pandemic. Through high awareness and discipline, we can all play a role in maintaining our own health and others, while supporting the government's efforts in controlling the spread of viruses. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the importance of awareness and education in the application of health protocols, and highlight the need for coordinated efforts to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.

Recommendations

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:

Increase awareness of health protocols: Coffee shop owners should provide clear and easy-to-understand information about the health protocol, as well as remind visitors to always comply with existing rules.
Improve education about COVID-19 transmission: Education about the steps to prevent COVID-19 transmission needs to be increased so that all parties can contribute to reducing the number of cases.
Formulate a more effective strategy: Local governments and the authorities should formulate a more effective strategy in increasing public awareness of the health protocol.
Encourage coordinated efforts: With coordinated efforts, it is expected that the transmission of COVID-19 can be minimized and the community can continue to carry out daily activities safely.

Limitations

This study has several limitations, including:

Sample size: The sample size of this study was relatively small, which may limit the generalizability of the findings.
