Analysis of the Relationship between the Role of Informal Educational Institutions with the Graduation Rate of Student National Exams

Introduction

In recent years, the world of education in Indonesia has witnessed a significant development. The emergence of various skills courses, tutoring, and other free time educational activities shows that the formal education system is not fully able to meet the expectations of the community. The high interest of students to follow tutoring is a reflection of their dissatisfaction with the quality of learning in schools. This requires formal educational institutions to improve the quality of their services so that the trust of students and parents recover.

Background of the Study

The study aims to determine the role of informal educational institutions, especially BT/BS Bima, in increasing the graduation level of students in Tarutung State High School, North Tapanuli Regency. Using a descriptive approach with quantitative methods, this research explores more about this social phenomenon. The research subject consisted of 11 students in Class III of Tarutung State High School 1, who gave a clear picture of the effect of tutoring on the results of their national examination.

Methodology

This study used a descriptive approach with quantitative methods to explore the relationship between the role of informal educational institutions and the graduation rate of student national exams. The research subject consisted of 11 students in Class III of Tarutung State High School 1. The data collection method used was a survey, where the students were asked to provide information about their experience with tutoring and their national exam results.

Results

The results of the study showed a significant relationship between the various elements measured. For the 'tangibles' category (direct evidence) obtained a value of 0.008, below the threshold of 0.05. Furthermore, 'reliability' (reliability) shows a value of 0.036; 'Responsiveness' (capture) records a value of 0.043; 'Assurance' (guarantee) records a very significant value of 0,000; and 'empathy' (empathy) with a value of 0.009. All of these values indicate that the role of tutoring institutions, in terms of facilities, teaching reliability, attention to students, and assurance of the quality of education, contributes positively to the level of graduation of the national exam.

Discussion

The results of this study suggest that the role of informal educational institutions, especially BT/BS Bima, plays a significant role in increasing the graduation level of students in Tarutung State High School, North Tapanuli Regency. The study found that the various elements measured, including tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, contribute positively to the level of graduation of the national exam.

Conclusion

Based on these results, it is recommended that students in choosing tutoring institutions pay attention to various important factors, including teacher qualifications, available facilities and infrastructure, as well as the achievements of the tutoring institution. In addition, tutoring officers need to be improved in order to provide a better understanding of the benefits of tutoring. Cooperation between schools and tutoring institutions also needs to be strengthened to increase the number of students participating in the guidance program. Involving teaching staff from schools in tutoring programs can be a further step to improve the quality of education outside of school hours.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the study only focused on the role of informal educational institutions in increasing the graduation level of students in Tarutung State High School, North Tapanuli Regency. Secondly, the study only used a descriptive approach with quantitative methods, which may not provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Finally, the study only used a small sample size, which may not be representative of the larger population.

This study provides several directions for future research. Firstly, it is recommended to conduct a more in-depth study of the effectiveness of existing tutoring institutions, especially related to aspects that are still relevant to improve the use of non-formal education.
