In today's business world, the time for delivery of financial statements is a crucial aspect that reflects the health and transparency of a company. The timely submission of financial statements is essential for stakeholders, including investors, creditors, and regulatory bodies, to make informed decisions about the company's financial performance and prospects. This study aims to analyze the effect of the effectiveness of the Audit Committee and the Characteristics of the Company on the Time of Submission of Financial Reporting (Financial Reporting Lead Time) in mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

Methodology

The population of this study was 40 mining companies listed on the IDX between 2012 and 2014. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, by choosing 14 companies as a sample for 3 years, which produced 42 observations. The data analysis technique applied was multiple linear regression.

Results

The results of this study showed that simultaneously, the effectiveness of the Audit Committee, company size, company growth, and operational complexity of the company had a significant influence on the time of delivering financial statements. However, when analyzed partially, only the effectiveness of the Audit Committee showed a significant negative effect on the time of delivering financial statements. Meanwhile, company size, company growth, and operational complexity do not have a significant effect.

An effective Audit Committee can increase supervision of the financial reporting process, so that reports can be prepared more quickly and accurately. Although the Characteristics of the Company, such as size, growth, and operational complexity, do not significantly affect the time of delivery of financial statements, this can be interpreted that companies with large or developing size are not necessarily faster in presenting financial statements. High operational complexity can also add challenges in the preparation of reports, but it is not a significant determinant.
