In an increasingly aging population, where life expectancy is increasing and the number of elderly will continue to grow, the health of the elderly is the main concern. The elderly often experience a decrease in body function which can cause various health problems. To keep the elderly healthy and productive, one of the efforts made is through the elderly posyandu, a health service intended for the elderly in a particular area, which is managed in a community. The elderly posyandu is a crucial program that aims to provide health services and support to the elderly, enabling them to maintain their physical and mental well-being.

However, the data shows that the percentage of the active elderly participated in the elderly posyandu in Pandau Hulu II Village, Medan Area District, in 2022 is still very low. The number of elderly visits to Posyandu is not proportional to the number of registered elderly. This study aims to identify factors related to the activity of the elderly in participating in the elderly posyandu activities in the area. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach, where the population studied consists of all elderly registered in the elderly posyandu, with a total of 720 respondents. The sample used in this study was 88 people, taken using purposive sampling technique.

The results showed that there were several variables related to the activeness of the elderly in participating in the elderly posyandu activities. These variables include:

A good cadres can explain the existing programs and activities, as well as being able to build good relationships with the elderly, so they feel valued and reminded of the importance of their health.
Family support (p = 0.007): Support from the family is another key factor that affects the activity of the elderly. Families who care and provide encouragement to the elderly to participate in posyandu activities can help increase the presence of the elderly.
