Analysis of the Aren Commodity Supply Chain Risk: A Case Study of Rumah Sumbul Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang

Introduction

The Aren commodity supply chain is a complex network of actors and activities that play a crucial role in determining the sustainability of the palm commodity supply. In this study, we conducted an analysis of the Aren commodity supply chain structure in Rumah Sumbul Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang, with the main purpose of identifying the risks that exist in the supply chain and determining the priority handling of these risks. By involving 30 palm craftsmen as samples chosen through the census method, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the risks that affect the sustainability of the Aren commodity supply chain.

Supply Chain Structure

The supply chain structure in Sumbul Rumah Village consists of several key actors, namely palm farmers, collecting traders, retailers, and end consumers. Each component in this supply chain plays a crucial role in determining the sustainability of the supply of palm commodity. The palm farmers are responsible for producing the raw materials, while the collecting traders play a crucial role in collecting and processing the raw materials. The retailers are responsible for distributing the final products to the end consumers. Understanding the supply chain structure is essential in identifying the risks that exist in the supply chain.

Risk Identification

After conducting the analysis, several risks were identified in the Aren commodity supply chain, namely:

Quality Risk: This risk is related to product quality standards produced by palm craftsmen. Poor quality products can result in a decrease in demand from consumers.
Production Risk: Various factors such as weather, availability of raw materials, and production tools can affect the yield of palm production.
Transportation Risk: This risk is related to the process of transporting products from craftsmen to consumers. Damage during transportation or late delivery can harm all parties involved in the supply chain.

Analysis using ANP

In this study, the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method was used to analyze and provide weights to the risks that have been identified. Through SuperDecision software, the results of the analysis show that the quality of quality ranks highest with a value of 0.636988. This means that quality risk has the greatest influence on the sustainability of the Aren commodity supply chain in Sumbul Rumah Village.

Quality risk becomes very important because the quality of the product directly affects consumer satisfaction and the reputation of craftsmen. If the resulting palm products do not meet quality standards, consumers tend to switch to alternative products. Risk Analysis in the Aren Supply Chain in the village of Sumbul Rumah Sumbul revealed that quality risk is the main challenge that needs to be immediately handled. Through joint efforts to improve product quality, it is expected that the supply chain of palm commodity can be more sustainable and beneficial for all parties involved. Thus, improving the performance of the supply chain will not only benefit the craftsmen, but also benefit consumers and the regional economy as a whole.
