Mutans colony was calculated visually.

The average S. mutans colony in children with SECC recorded 17.00 ± 6.98 CFU/ml, while in caries-free children, the average was only 6.38 ± 7.09 CFU/ml. The Mann Whitney analysis test showed a significant difference between the two groups, with a P value of <0.05.
