Student Opinion on the Use of Social Media as a Communication Media by BPJS Health Public Relations

Introduction

In today's digital age, social media has become an essential tool for communication, especially for public relations and institutions. The use of social media by BPJS Health public relations has been a topic of interest among students, who are the primary target audience for this institution. This study aims to explore the student's opinion on the use of social media as a communication media by BPJS Health public relations, focusing on the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) students of the University of North Sumatra (USU).

Background

The use of social media has become a crucial aspect of communication in today's world. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have made it easier for institutions to reach their target audience and convey information. BPJS Health public relations has also adopted social media as a means of communication, but the effectiveness of this approach is still a topic of debate. This study aims to understand the student's view of the effectiveness of social media as a communication channel and the benefits obtained from the information conveyed through the platform.

Methodology

This study uses a quantitative descriptive research design, which focuses on the depiction of the current subject or research object based on the facts. The population of this study consists of 3,835 FISIP students of USU, and the sample size is 97 respondents, calculated using the Yamane Taro Formula with 10% precision and 90% confidence level. The data collection method used is a questionnaire that contains various questions that must be answered by respondents. The data analysis technique used is a single table analysis.

Theories Used

Several theories are used as a foundation for this study, including:

Mass Media Theory: This theory explains how mass media influences people's attitudes and behaviors.

Results

The results of this study show that the majority of USU FISIP students gave a positive response to the use of social media by BPJS Health public relations. They consider that social media as a means of communication is quite good and effective, although there are still needs for improvement in its implementation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study shows that the use of social media as a communication tool by BPJS Health public relations is on target, but still requires adjustments and improvements to achieve more optimal results. With this improvement, it is expected that the interaction between institutions and the community, especially students, can run more effectively, so that the purpose of communication can be achieved properly.
