However, at the Pratama KPP Medan Belawan, there are still a number of personal taxpayers who are less aware of the importance of compliance in paying income tax and reporting it through the Annual Return (SPT) of Personal Income Tax. This study aims to analyze the factors that determine the compliance of Personal Taxpayers at the Pratama Tax Service Office (KPP) Medan Belawan, Indonesia.

Compliance with Personal Taxpayers becomes a crucial issue in an effort to increase state revenue. High tax literacy contributes to a better understanding of tax obligations, including how to report taxes and understand the consequences of non-compliance. When taxpayers have adequate knowledge about taxes, they are more likely to fulfill their obligations in a timely and accurate manner. Tax literacy is a critical factor in determining taxpayer compliance, as it enables taxpayers to understand their tax obligations and make informed decisions about their tax payments.

In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach was used by the path analysis method to answer the proposed hypothesis. The research population consists of all active personal taxpayers registered at the Pratama KPP Medan Belawan, with a total of 409 respondents. The results showed that tax literacy directly affected taxpayer compliance. However, service quality does not have a direct effect on taxpayer compliance. In addition, all variables, through tax awareness, have an indirect effect on taxpayer compliance.

Conclusion and Recommendations

In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of tax literacy, service quality, and tax awareness in determining taxpayer compliance. Efforts to increase taxpayer compliance must focus on increasing tax literacy, developing effective tax awareness programs, and improving taxpayer experience. Collaboration between the government and the community is essential to achieve better tax compliance targets in the future. By understanding the factors that affect taxpayer compliance, the government can develop effective strategies to increase taxpayer compliance and improve state revenue.

This study has several limitations, including the use of a descriptive qualitative approach and the sample size of 409 respondents.
