Evaluation of the Implementation of the Skills Guidance Program for Persons with Body Disabilities in the Bina Daksa Social Institution "Happy", North Sumatra

Introduction

Persons with disabilities in Indonesia face various challenges in living their daily lives. They have the same rights and obligations as other communities, including the right to get jobs that are in accordance with the ability, level of disability, education, and skills possessed. To help them develop mental and social abilities, it is essential for skills guidance programs to be offered. One of the programs was carried out at the Bina Daksa Social Home (PSBD) "Happy" in North Sumatra, under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs. This program aims to empower persons with disabilities with the skills needed to achieve independence.

Background

The Indonesian government has implemented various programs to support persons with disabilities, including the Skills Guidance Program for Persons with Body Disabilities. This program is designed to provide practical skills and knowledge to help individuals with disabilities achieve independence and participate in the workforce. The program is implemented in various social institutions across Indonesia, including the Bina Daksa Social Home (PSBD) "Happy" in North Sumatra.

Methodology

This study employed a descriptive research design to evaluate the implementation of the Skills Guidance Program for Persons with Body Disabilities at the Bina Daksa Social Home (PSBD) "Happy" in North Sumatra. The population of the study consisted of 70 individuals with body disabilities, and a sample of 26 individuals was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The sample was selected from teenagers who were at an adequate age to understand and feel the impact of the program given.

Analysis of Research Results

The data obtained from the study shows that respondents welcomed the skills guidance program. They felt that the learning process took place in accordance with the specified time, and the material taught helped them improve their daily life abilities. In further analysis, indicators specified in program evaluation show that program planning, learning implementation, and learning outcomes meet the expected criteria.

The program was designed by considering the needs and abilities of people with a body disability, so that the material delivered was relevant and applicable. This approach ensured that the program was tailored to the specific needs of the participants, which is essential for effective program implementation.

Discussion

The evaluation of the implementation of the Skills Guidance Program for Persons with Body Disabilities at the Bina Daksa Social Home (PSBD) "Happy" in North Sumatra shows satisfying results. The program not only provides practical skills but also increases the confidence and social abilities of the participants. Therefore, further efforts need to be made to expand the reach of this program and reach more people with disabilities in Indonesia.

Conclusion

The evaluation of the implementation of the Skills Guidance Program for Persons with Body Disability in the Bina Daksa Social Institution "Happy" shows that the program is effective in achieving its intended outcomes. The program provides practical skills, increases confidence, and enhances social abilities. Therefore, it is essential to continue and expand the program to reach more people with disabilities in Indonesia.
