Introduction

Cellulololytic fungi play a vital role in the process of decomposition of plant remnants in the forest, helping to release nutrition back into the soil and support soil fertility. The existence of cellulololytic fungi in the former fires in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, was studied by Rionaldo Melvin Silalahi under the guidance of Delvian and Deni Elfiati. This research aimed to examine the existence of cellulololytic fungi in the former fire, as well as the influence of the chemical and biological properties of soil on its existence.

The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Soil Biology and Central Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from October 2013 to January 2014. Sampling of soil was carried out based on five groups: control (non-burning land), ex-fire soils in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. The results of the analysis of soil chemical properties showed a low category, while the total number of soil microorganisms in soil biological properties reached 100, 68 x 10^3 SPK/ML.

Methodology

The research methodology involved the collection of soil samples from five different groups: control (non-burning land), ex-fire soils in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. The soil samples were then analyzed for their chemical and biological properties. The chemical properties of the soil were analyzed using standard laboratory procedures, while the biological properties were analyzed using a microscope to observe the presence of microorganisms.

Results

The results of the analysis of soil chemical properties showed a low category, indicating that the soil was not rich in nutrients. However, the total number of soil microorganisms in soil biological properties reached 100, 68 x 10^3 SPK/ML, indicating a high level of microbial activity. Macroscopic and microscopic observations in samples of T1P1 K, T1P3 K, T1P4 K, T2P5 K, 10 T1P1, T1P4 10, 10 T2P3, T2P2 11, 11 T2P5, and T2P5 12 showed that cellulolytic fungi found were included in the genus Aspergillus.
