Introduction

Farming is a vital sector in many countries, providing a source of income for millions of people worldwide. This study aims to analyze the income, differences in income, and feasibility of cassava and corn farming in the village of Central Kota, Dolok Masihul District, Serdang Bedagai Regency.

Methodology

This study was conducted in the village of Central Kota, Dolok Masihul District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The study location was chosen purposively, and the sample was taken using the simple random sampling method. A total of 100 farmers were selected for the study, with 50 farmers cultivating cassava and 50 farmers cultivating corn. The data collected included information on farm structure, income, and expenses.

The results of the study showed that the income of cassava and corn farmers in the village of Central Kota was profitable. Although there were differences in the farm structure, no significant differences were found between the income of cassava farmers and corn farmers. This means that both types of farming can contribute to farmers in the area.

Feasibility of Farming

Feasibility analysis was conducted to determine the profitability of cassava and corn farming. The R/C ratio value obtained for cassava farming was 2.78, while for corn it was 2.45. This figure indicates that every one rupiah invested in cassava farming will generate a profit of Rp 2.78, while investment in corn only generates Rp 2.45. R/C Ratio above 1 in both types of farming shows that both are worth running, but cassava provides higher benefits.

Agricultural Policy Analysis

Given the results of this study, it is essential for related parties, such as local governments and agricultural institutions, to consider the development of cassava farming as a more profitable choice for farmers. With support in the form of training, access to the market, and increasing agricultural technology, cassava production can be increased to meet market demand that continues to increase.

Conclusion

Overall, this study shows that both cassava and corn farming in the village of Central Kota has good potential. However, cassava farming seems to be more profitable and more economically feasible. Therefore, the development of cassava should be the main focus in agricultural policies in this region, to increase farmers' income and ensure the sustainability of farming. In the future, further research can be carried out to explore other factors that affect the income and feasibility of farming in the area.
