Introduction

In today's highly competitive business landscape, the quality of human resources (HR) is a crucial factor in achieving success. One of the key strategies to improve the quality of HR is through education and training. This study, conducted by Hardian Hariono Sinaga, aims to analyze the relationship between employee education and training and work performance in the North Sumatra Bank Information Technology Unit Medan.

Background of the Study

The North Sumatra Bank Information Technology Unit Medan is a leading financial institution in the region, providing a wide range of financial services to its customers. In order to stay competitive in the market, the bank needs to have a skilled and competent workforce. However, the rapid changes in the industry, particularly in the field of information technology, require employees to continuously update their skills and knowledge. Therefore, the bank needs to invest in education and training programs to improve the capability of its employees.

Methodology

This study involved all employees who worked at the North Sumatra Bank Medan, with a sample taken as many as 32 people based on the Kreijie sample table. There are three independent variables analyzed, namely the training method (X1), training material (X2), and the quality of the trainer (X3). Meanwhile, the dependent variable measured is work performance (Y). Before testing the hypothesis, the data collected is first tested with an analysis of classic assumptions. To test the hypothesis, researchers use multiple linear regression, with the T test for partial analysis and F test for simultaneous analysis, with a significance level of 5%.

Results

The results of this study indicate that each independent variable, namely training methods, training materials, and coaches, has a positive influence on employee work performance. Through the t test, all significance values obtained show smaller results than alpha values, so it can be concluded that all these variables significantly affect employee work performance. On the other hand, the F test analysis shows that the three variables contribute simultaneously to employee work performance.

Discussion

The ability of the three independent variables in explaining the variety of employee work performance is 78.5%. This figure indicates that good education and training has a significant impact on employee performance, but also shows that there are other factors that are not included in this study that affect the remaining 21.5%. This suggests that education and training are not the only factors that influence employee work performance, and other factors such as motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational culture may also play a significant role.

Conclusion

From this analysis, we can draw the conclusion that investment in education and training in employees at the North Sumatra Bank Medan is very important. Appropriate training methods, relevant training materials, and good quality coaches can improve employee competence, which ultimately contributes to higher work performance. Therefore, the company should continue to evaluate and improve the existing training programs to ensure that employees get training in accordance with the needs and developments of information technology today.

Recommendations

In facing the growing digital era, North Sumatra Bank needs to strengthen aspects of education and training to improve the capability of its employees. The application of innovative training methods and materials that are always updated will help employees in adapting changes that occur in the industry, so as to make maximum contribution to the company. Some of the recommendations that can be made include:

Developing a comprehensive training program: The bank should develop a comprehensive training program that covers all aspects of information technology, including software development, data analysis, and cybersecurity.
Providing ongoing training and development opportunities: The bank should provide ongoing training and development opportunities to employees to help them stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
Encouraging employee participation and engagement: The bank should encourage employee participation and engagement in the training program by providing incentives and rewards for employees who complete the training program.
Evaluating and improving the training program: The bank should evaluate and improve the training program regularly to ensure that it is effective in improving employee competence and work performance.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations that should be noted. Firstly, the study only focused on the North Sumatra Bank Information Technology Unit Medan, and the findings may not be generalizable to other organizations. Secondly, the study only analyzed three independent variables, namely training methods, training materials, and coaches, and other factors that may influence employee work performance were not included in the study. Finally, the study only used a sample of 32 employees, which may not be representative of the entire population of employees at the bank.
