In today's world, the cooling machine has become an essential component in our daily lives. With the increasing energy crisis, it is crucial to find innovative solutions to overcome this problem. One approach that can be taken is to utilize unused energy sources, such as exhaust gas, to increase the efficiency of cooling machines. The absorption cooling machine, which relies on exhaust gas as the main source of energy, is an interesting example in this regard. In this process, one of the key components that plays a vital role is the absorber, which functions as a container to dissolve the refrigerant and absorbent.

In this study, the type of absorber designed is the type of shell and tube, which is made of stainless steel 304. The main objective of this study is to design an absorber that is able to support the evaporator load of 50 W and evaluate the absorber performance as one of the components in the absorption cycle. The absorber is a critical component in the absorption cycle, as it is responsible for dissolving the refrigerant and absorbent, and transferring heat from the refrigerant to the absorbent.

From the results of the analysis conducted, the absorber dimension designed was obtained with a length of 61,0406 cm, the diameter of the tube of 14,3002 cm, and the diameter of the Shell 16,8275 cm. Performance testing shows that the average heat transfer rate of absorber is as follows:

First test: 79,1284 kw
Second test: 78.43 kw
Third testing: 75.29 kw

From the data above, the average effectiveness of the three tests is 31.06%. This figure provides a good picture of the absorption of absorbers that are designed, although there is still room for further repairs.
