Analysis of the Effect of Company Size and Profit Ability on Capital Structure in the Property and Manufacturing Sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
Introduction
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is one of the largest stock exchanges in Southeast Asia, providing a platform for companies to raise capital and for investors to participate in the growth of the Indonesian economy. The property and manufacturing sectors are two of the most significant sectors on the IDX, with many companies listed in these sectors. However, the capital structure of these companies can have a significant impact on their financial performance and ability to raise capital. This study aims to analyze the effect of company size and profit ability on the capital structure of property and manufacturing companies listed on the IDX.

What is the effect of company size on the capital structure of property and manufacturing companies listed on the IDX?
What is the effect of profit ability on the capital structure of property and manufacturing companies listed on the IDX?
Is there a significant influence between company size and profit ability on the capital structure of property and manufacturing companies listed on the IDX?
Methodology
This study uses a quantitative approach, with a sample of 100 property and manufacturing companies listed on the IDX for the period 2004-2007. The data was collected from the IDX database and processed using SPSS 13.0 for Windows statistics software. The study uses descriptive and statistical analysis methods, including a joint significance test (F test) and individual significance test (T test) with a significance level of α = 5%.
Results
The results of the joint significance test show that the company size variable, net profit margin ratio, and dummy variables collectively have a significant effect on the debt to equity ratio (DER). This is indicated by a significance value smaller than 0.05 (p-value <0.05). These findings confirm that the combination of these factors jointly affects the company's capital structure in the two sectors studied.
Furthermore, the individual significance test shows that the company's size has a positive and significant influence on DER. That is, the greater the company size, the higher the DER. This shows that larger companies tend to rely on debt in their capital structure. Meanwhile, the net profit margin variable and the dummy variable do not show a significant effect on DER.

The findings of this research are in line with the trade-off theory, which states that the company will choose a capital structure that maximizes the company's value by considering the costs and benefits of debt and equity. Larger companies tend to have easier access to the capital market and lower debt costs, so they are more likely to utilize debt to finance their growth.
