Introduction

The increasing demand for solid wood has led to a significant problem in obtaining this material, while the issue of environmental waste continues to grow. Physical Nature

Density: The density value obtained ranges from 0.70 to 0.87 gr/cm³, which meets standardization.

Water Absorption: Water absorption is tested in two durations. Within 2 hours, the absorption value ranges from 0.25 to 1.22%, and within 24 hours is between 0.25 to 1.52%. This shows the material ability to hold water, even though the value tends to be low.
After 2 hours, increased between 0.07 to 0.28%, and after 24 hours, showing changes between 0.22 to 0.92%.

Mechanical Properties

Modulus of Elasticity (MOE): There are two MOE values namely wet and dry. Unfortunately, the MOE value obtained, around 1.10 × 10^4 to 1.30 × 10^4 kgf/cm², does not meet the criteria set by the standard.
Modulus Rupture (MOR): MOR is also tested in wet and dry conditions. The wet MoE value ranges from 94.79 to 256.25 kgf/cm², while the dry MOE value ranges from 114.50 to 211.58 kgf/cm². Both meet the applicable standards. 3 This shows that although the composite board has a variety of good properties, the aspect of resistance to mechanical loads still needs to be improved.

Conclusion

Utilization of pure palm oil and plastic stem waste as a composite board material with the addition of maleated polypropylene has good potential in overcoming the problem of solid wood substitution and environmental waste. The results showed various physical and mechanical properties that can compete with conventional material, although there are several aspects that still need to be considered, such as modulus of elasticity and the strength of the screw handle. This research opens the way for further innovation in the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable composite materials.
