The Influence of Fundamental and Technical Factors on Stock Prices in Large Capitalization Companies Listed on the IDX, SGX, and SET (2016-2022)

Introduction

Stock prices are a reflection of the value of a company, both in the eyes of investors and in its business environment. Stocks with high prices show positive perceptions of the company, while low stock prices indicate the opposite. This study aims to reveal the effect of fundamental and technical factors on large capitalized company stock prices on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Singapore Exchange (SGX), and Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) during the 2016-2022 period.

Methodology

This study uses a quantitative approach with a population in the form of large capitalized companies listed on the three exchanges. Sampling techniques are carried out with purposive sampling, choosing companies that meet certain criteria. Data were analyzed using Panel Data Regression with the help of EViews software.

Analysis of Fundamental Factors

Fundamental factors are essential in determining the intrinsic value of a company and its stock price. The results of this study indicate that several fundamental factors have a significant effect on large capitalized company stock prices on the IDX, SGX, and SET.

Return on Equity (ROE)

ROE is a measure of a company's ability to generate profits from invested capital. The high ROE indicates a strong company profitability, thus attracting investors to buy their shares. The results of this study show that ROE has a significant effect on stock prices.

Current Ratio

The current ratio is a measure of a company's ability to fulfill its short-term obligations with current assets. This ratio shows company liquidity. Although simultaneously has a significant effect, partial analysis shows the current ratio has no significant effect on stock prices.

Earnings Per Share (EPS)

EPS is a measure of a company's profitability per share. The high EPS indicates the company produces good profits, thus attracting investors to buy their shares. However, partial analysis shows EPS has no significant influence on stock prices.

Debt to Equity Ratio (DER)

DER is a measure of the ratio of debt to equity. The high DER indicates that the company has a higher financial risk, so it may be less attractive to investors. Partial analysis shows DER has a significant influence on stock prices, where high DER can reduce stock prices.

Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR)

DPR is a measure of the proportion of profits distributed to shareholders. The high DPR can attract investors because they provide direct returns to their investment. Partial analysis shows that the DPR has no significant influence on stock prices.

Analysis of Technical Factors

Technical factors are also essential in determining the stock price of a company. The results of this study indicate that several technical factors have a significant effect on large capitalized company stock prices on the IDX, SGX, and SET.

Bid Volume

Bid volume is a measure of the number of purchases of shares offered. High purchase volume shows the enthusiasm of investors to buy shares, which can encourage price increases. Partial analysis shows the volume bid has a significant effect on stock prices.

Trading Volume

Trading volume is a measure of the total number of stock transactions that occur. High trading volume can indicate high interest in stocks, which can encourage price increases. However, partial analysis shows that trading volume has no significant influence on stock prices.

Conclusion

Fundamental and technical factors have an important role in determining the company's share price of large capitalization. ROE, DER, and BID Volume have proven to have a significant effect on stock prices. This study provides an overview of the main factors that encourage stock price movements and can be taken into consideration for investors in making investment decisions.

Limitations

This study has several limitations, such as the availability of data, analyzed variables, and research periods. For further research, it is necessary to consider other variables that may have an influence on stock prices, as well as expand the research period to get more comprehensive results.

Investors can use the results of this study to make informed investment decisions, while policymakers and regulators can use the results to develop policies and regulations that promote the growth and development of the stock market.
