The results showed a significant influence of knowledge (p = 0.038) and attitude (p = 0.026) on the use of PPE. However, there is no influence from employee motivation factors. Interestingly, attitude has a dominant influence with Odds Ratio (OR) of 7,405, which indicates that employees with positive attitudes have the opportunity to use PPE 7,405 times greater than those who have a negative attitude.

The findings of this study suggest that knowledge and attitude are critical factors that influence the behavior of refinery employees in using PPE. The significant influence of knowledge indicates that employees who have a better understanding of the risk of work encountered are more likely to use PPE.
